Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Children & Youth

Mission: The Caribbean Education Foundation, Inc. (CEF) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping poor children receive meaningful access to quality education in the Caribbean. Our current mission country is Jamaica. For example, in Jamaica, PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION IS NOT FREE. Many poor children are unable to attend high school because families cannot afford the costs. CEF awards scholarships to children who are unable to attend school, because families are unable to pay school fees and other required school related costs. Our Student Scholarships pay school fees, purchase text books, school supplies, uniforms, meals and transportation. CEF’s goal is to take action, to ensure things will change to break the poverty cycle and give our youth meaningful choices and opportunities in this world.

Results: CEF has already awarded 40 student scholarships in excess of $50,000 U.S. dollars to brilliant, under-served students in Jamaica in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. It plans to continue to help many more children in 2013.

Target demographics: CEF awards scholarships to children at all levels of education who are unable to attend public school because parents cannot pay the tuition and other school related costs. However, CEF current focus is on poor children ages 10-17 years old who are unable to attend Junior High and High School in Jamaica. Our Scholarships pay school fees, purchase text books, school supplies, uniforms, meals and transportation.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 18 children in need of an education.

Geographic areas served: Jamaica

Programs: Paul Bogle Scholarship for High School Create a Learning Center for Children in Kingston, Jamaica Venice Stubbs Higher Education Sustaining Scholarship for Boarding for University Students Joe Higgs University Scholarship for undergraduate students

Every individual in life has at least one person who leaves an indelible mark or lasting impression on them. One such person for me, is CEF's Founder, President and CEO, Nikiki Bogle, Esq. I was truly honored to have had the great privilege of reasoning with Ms. Bogle via my radio show entitled, "Positive Reasoning With Marcia Higgs." I will forever be humbled by the fact that... while having no children of her own, this young Professional STRIDES out of her comfort zone... STEPS up to an EMPTY plate... and STANDS in the gap for countless POOR children. Observing THIS... I have stepped up to the plate and assumed a bit of responsibility by becoming a CEF Ambassador and it feels like the BEST thing I've ever done!!! I therefore urge EVERYONE to give a gift, make a donation, adopt a child, become a CEF Ambassador, support this WORTHY cause... and by so doing... ONE CHILD AT A TIME... WE CAN BREAK DOWN ILLITERACY!!! More LIFE, More LOVE, More BLESSINGS and More POWER to CEF!!! If you can, please copy and paste the link below to help support my adopted child. Her name is Coya. Thank You!!! http://www.globalgiving.org/dy/fundraiser/prevfund/gg.html?regid=6930&uauserid=622199&from=myreg

I commend CEF on it's tremendous and successful effort in helping to provide a means to an education for well deserving underprivileged children in the caribbean. With Jamaica being it's current mission, I personally know what a difference CEF has made in a few lives, the opportunities gained and doors that have opened for these children to have a fair chance at attaining their full heights. Thank you CEF for having a big heart full of compassion! I believe CEF will continue to make a difference in the lives of these children and their families, and go on to further greater success extending it's mission caribbean wide. However, it's people like you out there that can help make this happen. Please help support the mission and these children by supporting CEF! Donate and endorse!

I think the Caribbean Education Foundation is an outstanding organization. Awarding the less fortunate, but most qualified of students a scholarship that will help them to maximize their mental capacity to achieve a higher level of learning... not having to focus on certain things that they would normally have to, like food and transportation, etc. Because of the commitment and compassion that CEF has for their students, I would certainly have to give them a five star rating. I also think in the future that CEF will reach a heights, that not even the founder had imagined. Keep up the work excellent!

It's a great honor to give CEF 5 stars for their contribution to some of the most brilliant Children in Jamaica, who have passed their Grade Six Achievement test. (GSat) paying their School Fees, Textbooks, Uniforms, Transportation, Lunch and Medicals. I'm so amazed by the Carribbean Education Foundation. (CEF). I believe every person in this world, deserves a chance to strive and to be productive of their country. CEF is delievering a great oppurtunity for success. This is also a great gift to the children in this world today, being able to have the ability to take care of their needs, reach their goals, and be an excellent contributor to the society. I wish CEF a great success.

I enthusiastically endorse the Caribbean Education Foundation (CEF) as a worthy recipient of money, time and energy from those who wish to contribute to a better world for the young people of this region. I have known the founder of this organization for over a decade and witnessed firsthand the passion and sense of purpose which drove her and her dedicated team to build this organization into the force for good that is has become. Having lived in the Caribbean for a brief time, I carry an eyewitness impression of how inequitable educational systems damage social and economic development. The problems CEF addresses are not endemic just to the Caribbean, of course, but it is largely because its mission is so focussed that allows CEF to be so effective in what is has set out to do.

CEF is by far one of the most effective not for profit organizations targeted at children's education currently operating in the Caribbean. While the mission of the organization, children's education, is one which many organizations in the caribbean and elsewhere share, and one which resonates with many donors, I believe that this organization is effective and deserving of my support because of the very testimony of the children they serve, many of whom are featured on their website. These children though poor in material resources have succeded academically. For a small investment you and I can give them an opportunity to continue their education. This is the equivalent of a free lunch both literally and figuratively. You have an opportunity to make an investment in an already academically succcessful individual so they can continue to succeed. That is a sure investment if ever I have heard of one. Additionally, I also believe CEF is effective based on my personal interaction with the organization. After having volunteered at and attended a number of their events over the years, I am impressed with their ability to raise fund in an efficent manner thereby ensuring that a larger percentage of donated funds makes its way to the target mission. I'm also impressed by the fact that the leadership of the organization is likewise committed to the funding mission not just in terms of their donated services but also by the fact that they are willing to committ their own financial resources to the mission in a significant way.

It gives me great pleasure to give CEF 5 Stars for their benevolent contribution to some of the most brilliant Children who have pass their Grade Six Achievement Test.(GSAT). These are Children who's parents or parent are unable to suffice the necessities for them such as, School Fees, Books, Uniforms, Transportation, Lunch, Medical, Dental and other Miscellaneous. I wish CEF great success and hope the foundation will get bigger so more Children will be able to benefit. I am appealing to others to give a donation it does not matter how small it may be, CEF will appreciate it.

Caribbean Education Foundation-CEF is first rate, from concept through delivery of services. Often, one wonders whether a modest contribution to a worthwhile cause would make a difference; not so with CEF. One can rest assured that any contribution, large or small goes right to the core mission; investing in the education of children who need and deserve it. I endorse CEF without reservation.

Was blessed to be able to spend a few hours with Upper Elementary and Junior High Students during their school day at The Academy in Kingston 12. The students had such lovely voices however their school lacked so many things that could bring them up to speed. It is very sad to see so many living so well and yet children must pay to attend school and pay for their own transportation, food, books, materials and supplies. Additionally, many students' neighborhoods are too dangerous and need assistance and/or finances to relocate in order to attend High School. 1 ♥ Caribbean Education Foundation, founded and managed by Joe Higgs' grandaughter, Nikiki Bogle, Esq. is always seeking mentors, volunteers, and donors to help make a difference to deserving students. Please put and keep children first, families suffer when children need assistance. Strong educational programs like this make miracles happen. It is easy to help others when you have experienced that gift yourself. Blessings always! 1 ♥

CEF has been doing an excellent job helping needy, deserving children to go to high school in Jamaica. CEF scholarships pay their school fees, textbooks, uniforms, transportation and lunch. Without CEF, these bright children would not be able to go to school. Keep up the good work CEF!

Caribbean Education Foundation is standing in the gap for brilliant students who simply cannot afford to pay for tuition. As we all know, a good education is the vehicle by which these students can work their way to success and out of poverty and even this is unattainable for most. CEF has stepped up to the plate, but if the Foundation doesn't get the financial help it needs, these poor children will be barred from entering classes! I thought, so fortunate we are here in the US to have basic high school education for FREE! Not so in Jamaica! Let us get it together and help CEF to help these children! I support this cause 1000%.

After listening to the "Positive Reasoning with Marcia Higgs" interview with Nikiki Bogle, checking out the CEF web pages and reading these reviews and testimonials, I am impressed, to say the least! This organization seems to be a great and welcoming home for the needy students and as Marcia says, ‎"With one child at a time, WE can break down illiteracy!" I'm happy to endorse CEF! Far exceeds my expectations!

I am so impressed by the team at Caribbean Education Foundation (CEF). CEF is a Great nonprofit that is helping to educate poor children to attend high schools in Jamaica. I have donated to their Paul Bogle Scholarship Program for the past two years and it is money well-spent! My donations are not only tax-deductible, but CEF sends regular updates in Newsletters to me on how the students who receive scholarships are doing in school. I tell you, these children are some of the smartest in the bunch and make me proud to help in their education. Keep up the EXCELLENT work, team CEF! More people and companies need to donate to CEF to help these children.

Having been a member of the board of CEF at its inception and followed its growth since, I can only point to Ms. Bogle's drive and determination as being the keys to the success of CEF. With a diverse membership across North America and recipients abroad, Ms. Bogle has been outstanding at marshaling stakeholders and focusing towards concrete rewards.

CEF is about action: translating ideas into action, bringing resources to bear to execute actions, and creating meaningful change through action. Having served on the Advisory Board since shortly after CEF's inception, I have seen firsthand the shared committment to action that not only NIkiki, but the entire board shares. This is also reflected in the core activities of CEF. At it's heart, CEF is about improving education, one child at a time, not through noble sentiment and words, but through the simple, tangible action of funding a child's books and school materials. By focusing on tangible action, CEF stays true to its core purpose and achieves it regardless of the resource restraints we face.

It is with great honor that I serve as one of the newest "Board Of Directors" for CEF. Upon having the pleasure of speaking with the CEO, Ms. Nikiki Bogle, and feeling her passion, devotion and dedication to children around the Caribbean toward obtaining higher education, I knew this is where I wanted to be. The Caribbean Education Foundation has such a track record and success rate of assisting students in Jamaica toward receiving scholarship funding to attend High School. There is no doubt in my mind that CEF will continue to be a Global Caribbean force in assisting children in acheiving academic greatness in immediate years to come. I am person who was born and rise in the intercity of Jamaica like many of these students I know first hand what it is like to go to school and needing help with financies. CEF is a great organization that is giving students the opportunity to go to school and become someone great in live, because many of these students do not have finincal support without CEF they would be out of school working some dead end job, or walking the streets. CEF is also giving them the chance to reach their greatest potencial.

As a native of Jamaica I understand both the value and cost of the island's wonderful public education system. High expectations, challenging curricula, and motivated students are the proven elements for creating successful students and developing rewarding careers. Unfortunately, many gifted and ambitious students
in Jamaica are unable to realize this dream because they cannot afford school fees, books, boarding and other educational expenses. Nikiki Bogle recognized this deficiency and created CEF to fill this void. In a remarkable demonstration of clear vision, dogged determination and untiring efforts, Ms. Bogle has assembled a team of professionals who are dedicated to providing scholarships to deserving students. I am proud to be a part of this team which
has provided several successive years of fundraising and scholarship
distribution.

Education is the truly the great equalizer. Unfortunately, the access to education is often hampered by financial constraints for many students in the Caribbean. Realizing the importance of providing bright and eager students an opportunity to attend and excel in school, Nikiki Bogle took the initiative to create the Caribbean Education Foundation.

Now, in its fourth year, the CEF has evolved from an idea to a fully operating organization dedicated to addressing the needs of youth in the Caribbean, by alleviating the monetary burden that would have undoubtedly caused a strain on low-income families. The CEF presently provides tuition, travel, textbooks and enrichment for 6 talented students in Jamaica.

With a proven track record of success, and a scalable framework, the CEF is working to create relationships with school administration on other islands within the Caribbean. One day, Ms. Bogle's vision will be fulfilled in the future and every student in the Caribbean will be afforded an equal opportunity for educational advancement.

This fabulous organization takes on a specific purpose, education of children, and puts the money where it is most needed. Children are the adults of tomorrow, and insuring their education will build a better world. There are fewer ways to make sure a donation is well spent.

The Caribbean Education Foundation, Inc. (CEF) based in Boston, Massachusetts is a wonderful nonprofit doing excellent work to help poor children receive an education! I have volunteered with CEF for 3 years now. It is a fantastic organization with a professional and very active Board who are all volunteers. The Executive Officers are dedicated volunteers too.

I learned a great deal from CEF, which raised awareness that PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS ARE NOT FREE IN JAMAICA. Thousands of brilliant poor children are unable to attend high school there, because parents cannot afford the school fees, text books, transportation, school supplies and meals.

This is the organization's major effort right now--to help poor children have meaningful access to high school education in its current mission country of Jamaica. To do so, it awards "Paul Bogle Scholarships" for High School children. CEF plans to expand its scholarship programs to other Caribbean countries in 2012.

I particularly love that CEF has Financial Transparency and at least 80% of funds raised go to the CEF Scholarship Programs. All donations designated for Scholarships are 100% donated to that program. This results in the organization being able to provide more Scholarships to underprivileged children to attend school.
