United Regional Health Care Foundation

Programs: United regional health care foundation was organized in 1998 in support of united regional health care system's commitment to providing excellence in health care for the communities served. As the only full service hospital in the region, united regional is the single source for trauma care and comprehensive emergency services in wichita county and the surrounding eight counties. United regional health care foundation is a type i supporting organization under the internal revenue code section 509(a)(3). The foundation organized a number of fundraising and educational activities in 2014 for the following purposes at united regional: the heart of a woman brunch, an event organized to help women understand the risks they face from heart disease, funds heart health education and improvements to united regional's cardiac institute. This event has grown to over 650 attendees, includes health education and wellness tips, and provides free wellness screenings for more than 500 annually. The 2014 united regional health care foundation golf classic was a sell-out event in support of the compassion fund and the rathgeber hospitality house. The children's miracle network effort assists in providing equipment, facility improvements and programs for infants and children treated in a wide range of departments at united regional. A number of activities and special events help ensure the best in health care and safety for children, and contribute to the total raised each year. Car seat checks are provided in cooperation with emergency personnel and local sponsors. Fundraising and awareness events are ranch days and a jersey auction held by the wichita falls wildcats hockey team. The spirit of giving campaign raised significant funds from regional's employees for childrens miracle network, united regionals friendship fund, the compassion fund and rathgeber hospitality house. During this campaign employees also have the opportunity to contribute to the hands community fund and the north texas area united way. United regional health care foundation distributes funds raised to united regional health care system as projects are completed, equipment is purchased, and pledges are collected. A portion of the funds distributed in 2014 were raised and collected in prior years.
