Mission: The organization was established to develop and manage funds for scholarships for united methodist students attending united methodist related schools.
Programs: United methodist dollars for scholars provided matching scholarships for students attending united methodist-related institutions. Local united methodist churches provided $1,000 to a member student, united methodist higher education foundation matches $1,000, and in most instances the united methodist-related educational institution matches $1,000, bringing the total award to $3,000. Further, with a select number of united methodist conference foundations, the award is matched with an additional $1,000, bringing the total award to $4,000. Foundation merit scholars provide a $3,000 scholarship to every class at each of the 13 united methodist-related seminaries and a $2,000 scholarship to each of the 106 united methodist-related educational institutions. Named endowed scholarships are awarded to students from various donor-endowed scholarship funds.
