Mission: Ujamaa place's mission is to assist african american men typically between 17 and 28 years of age, who are economically disadvantaged and have experienced repeated cycles of failure. Located in st. Paul, minnesota, ujamaa place offers these young men success in their lives through education and skills training specifically aimed at turning their lives around to become productive members of their families and communities.
Programs: The ujamaa place program provides a comprehensive approach that offers young men a pathway to success through high context coaching plus education and training in empowerment skills, basic job skills & job search, ged, spirituality, african american culture, and life skills. Key indicators of success:ujamaa place graduates have completed their ged, are using empowerment skills in their daily lives, are not reoffending, are drug free, have stable housing, are holding a steady job, and are positively connected to their families and children.
