Causes: International, International Relief
Mission: To provide water and provision as well as much needed medical care, educational and economic developement to alleviate human suffering in uganda.
Programs: Ucss has built 13 water wells and repaired 1 existing well. Each well serves approximately 100 families (a family has an average of 8 members) with clean water each day. Ucss operates a medical clinic that runs 7 days per week serving over 800 patients per week, and have recently recruited a midwife. In addition to seeing patients at the clinic, the staff also performs community education. The infant mortality rate has been reduced from 5 per month to almost none. The overall mortality rate has been reduced from one per day to one per week since inception of ucss. Ucss has constructed a community school with 7 teachers to serve over 750 children in elementary school. Over 80 children ages 12-15 years were funded to go to school and over 70 adults attended basic literacy classes. New constrution of first block of secondary school is 90% complete. 6 new churches have been planted and a total of 35 bible study groups have been started. Ucss is also working closely with 30 churches in the local villages.
