Programs: Twirl is a Taos-based 501 C (3) Play & Discovery Space providing play-based learning programs for Taos kids ages 0-12 and their families since 2007 Twirl partners with Taos agencies and organizations to elevate the importance of play to healthy child development, providing community-wide opportunities for families to play and create together Twirl has become a critical part of the ecosystem for children and families in Taos. It is a place where the whole community can come together to build connections that increase community well-being. There are few places for families of young children to gather and play in Taos and Twirl fills that gap. Twirl’s community playspace provides a safe, inspiring, and nurturing play environment. It is also a place where Taos agencies can meet with clients or bring their school groups to play with high-quality learning materials that foster parent-child engagement and connect community Twirl’s free baby, toddler and preschool classes provide early socialization opportunities and support foundational skill development Parents in search of healthy activities for their kids, a parent community for themselves, and resources to help interact with their children have come to rely on Twirl. Twirl also hosts community events like the World Breastfeeding Celebration, Global Cardboard Challenge, Twirl Aglow, Halloweenie, and the Invent Event that connect families and promote play and creativity. Twirl's annual Invent Event is a maker faire that brings together around 60 community partners, 100 volunteers and 900 kids and adults to explore 40+ hands-on stations and to play and create with new tools, technologies and techniques. Twirl partners to provide outreach programs that engage families together in creative play in neighborhoods, community centers & schools Twirl participates in The Paseo, an annual street art festival in Taos, creating a large-scale community art installation for visitors that is the culmination of outreach STEAM programming in local schools, preschools and Headstarts. Twirl also provides early literacy programs in Taos preschools and Headstart agencies.
