Causes: Philanthropy, Private Independent Foundations
Mission: The tug mcgraw foundation was established by tug mcgraw in 2003 to enhance the quality of life for kids and adults diagnosed with brain tumors--including vital support for their families. We accomplish this through education, website resources, connecting military-civilian medicine and community based programs that impact the physical, emotional, and spiritual part of wellness for maximum brain health.
Programs: Tmf's brain food garden and egg plant program: healthy mind, healthy soul. That's a mantra you hear often at the tug mcgraw foundation (tmf) in yountville. Located on the grounds of the yountville veterans home, tmf creates programs that support a higher quality of life for its residents. Physical activity, healthy eating and connecting with others represent the main pillars of wellness. Tmf's brain food garden and chicken coop focuses on each of these areas by creating a space for residents to grow fresh and organic produce right in their backyard. . . All the while getting exercise, connecting with nature, and socializing with other brain food garden farmers. The goal is to raise awareness across the home about the amazing bounty they have access to, along with the opportunity to be a part of a team that helps to cultivate the garden.
tmf's mixed nutts softball program: through america's favorite pastime, the tug mcgraw doundation's mixed nutts program helps connect veterans with the surrounding community. Each season they have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor exercise and team camaraderie. Opportunities that are important to improve overall wellness and brain health.
tmf's creative brain program: by exploring different art mediums, the tug mcgraw foundation's creative brain project encourages new ways of communication. In many instances, veterans have experienced situations that are far too difficult to express through verbal conversation. Our art programs not only offer veterans new ways to communicate, but they also learn new skills they can use in the next chapter of their life. Connecting veteran artists with civilian artists also allows for a natural collaborative and mentoring exchange to take place and helps better connect our veteran artists with community.
