Programs: "christmas at the depot" was sponsored again this year by tucumcari mainstreet. The christmas light parade terminates at the railroad depot building and santa claus leaves the parade to come into the depot where children are given the opportunity to sit on his lap and tell him what they'd like for christmas. Mainstreet provided each child with a christmas gift and two other local organizations were present to pass out cookies and hot chocolate. We had about 250 in attendance for this event.
the mainstreet "fired up! Festival" was provided to the city of tucumcari residents in september. This is an annual community event held in the railroad depot area of town, and provides regional bands, fire performances and blacksmithing contests. Vendors sold a variety of goods during this event which varied from children's clothing to funnel cakes, and the culmination of activities is a large fireworks display over the depot which is staged by our fire department.
"paint the town" is a project begun four years ago by tucumcari main street in cooperation with the tucumcari chamber of commerce. Commercial property owners are invited to have their buildings painted by volunteers. The property owner provides the paint and main street and the chamber provide the volunteers. The size of the entity is too small to account for costs of each project. Total costs are reflected on page 1.
