Mission: Truenorth freedom project promotes sexual honesty and integrity by sharing biblical truth, hope-filled stories, and trusted resources that cultivate authentic relationships and spiritual growth. Truenorth continued to develop and share materials related to sexual honesty and integrity and engaged with many individuals and organizations desiring to grow in their understanding of these issues, whether for themselves, someone they love, or an organization they lead.
Programs: Program materials in development and completed:soulmate: walking with jesus on (un)holy ground bookusing feedback from the pilots of soulmate conducted in the previous year (the material contained information about our sexual design as it relates to living in a sexualized culture, engaging with a husband and children on issues related to bodies, sex, and porn, and raising children in this sexualized culture) truenorth continued to refine the material and research new information to enhance it. Soulmate was restructured to better serve its audience and two lectures were converted into sample chapters. A book proposal was created for potential publishers and literary agents so that the material can eventually become a published book. Truenorth blog poststruenorth published and shared via social media and email marketing nineteen blog posts on topics related to porn, parenting in a sexualized culture, finding hope for a struggle with porn, coming alongside teens who struggle with porn, good resources for those wanting to walk in sexual integrity or lead others toward that, personal journeys to freedom from porn use, trusting god with deep secrets, tips for parents and children before giving a smart phone, living in a broken world, and the value and worth of individuals in a culture that objectifies and uses many. Their blog subscriber list is approximately 110 and more readers are able to access the content as it is shared on social media (over 500 facebook followers, plus others reached through paid facebook marketing). Speaking engagements, one-on-one meetings, and prayer:truenorths founder had several opportunities to speak about the issues of godly sexuality and porn and its effect on families and relationships to several groups in the atlanta area (grace evangelical church, salvation army, passion pursuit bible study, whitefield academy administrators), reaching approximately 215 people. Our founder had 45 individual meetings/calls with those desiring to speak privately about their struggle with porn use and sexual sin, or women in relationship with someone who struggles in this way. She was able to learn from their stories as well as encourage them toward next steps in their journey of healing and/or restoration. Truenorth hosted a monthly prayer group for women in the atlanta area to pray for the issue of sexual brokenness in our culture. Sharing resources via website and social media:truenorth continued to update its website with relevant material and shared its message of hope for users of porn and for those in relationship with them over facebook and instagram. Sharing resources via media appearances and video:anne kerr and mindy pierce (lpc) traveled to pa to tape three episodes for the cable television show, true view, where they spoke about the effects of porn on individuals, families, and relationships as well as good next steps for those struggling with porn issues. True view is on direct t. V. And airs in millions of homes across the world. These episodes aired in the summer of 2016, and will remain available online via true views website and youtube. Anne was also a guest on an internet radio program in atlanta (lucretia turners program). Truenorth commissioned and shared a video via their website that explains the mission of truenorth but also helps to normalize conversations among believers about bodies, porn, and sex, so the church can become a place where others can turn for healing from their sexual wounds or find redemption and grace for past sexual mistakes. Collaborative research project development:along with the brushfires foundation, truenorth worked to create a survey for senior pastors which will be administered by the barna group late 2017. This survey will provide valuable information for truenorth as they continue to develop materials and work to equip church and parachurch ministry leaders to lead their members on issues related to sexual wholeness, sexual brokenness, and living in a hyper-sexualized culture.
