I went there personally and those animals look great. And very happy. Sounds like these post are made by the same few ppl? And they wanna bash someone. they don’t kill animal’s they love them. If you don’t believe me. Go check it out for yourself

Dude pled guilty to keeping animals in the freezer and not getting them adequate veterinary care. Multiple animals in his care were suffering and he paraded them around on video for donations. There's also some discrepancy in his public tax records.

Anyone bringing their animals here or donating to this scam in any way you're literally just funding animal abuse and a sick psychopath

Zero stars isn't an option, but it should be. Trixie is ONLY able to take in animals again after a plea bargain that allowed the owner to enter a diversion. DO NOT SURRENDER ANIMALS TO THIS ORGANIZATION!

I wish I could give zero stars....dogs laying in their own feces and eating whatever they can find. Unvetted, unloved, furry babies that are not cared for other than for the almighty buck the director can swindle out of non-suspecting donors. Kentucky should be ashamed for letting this man start taking in animals again and anyone who hands their dog over to him should also be ashamed.

This is not a rescue. This is a scam artist collecting money that does NOT go to helping animals. Ask for his vet records. Check his financials and compare how much money he takes in to how much money is actually spent on the animals. He just pled out on hundreds of charges of animal abuse and neglect. The Trixie Foundation has long been plagued with problems. From a lack of suitable housing, overcrowded muddy pens, a poor diet, and a lack of appropriate vet care (both preventative and emergency) EVERYTHING about this "rescue" is a horror show. The owner, Randy Skaggs, was charged with over 200 counts of animal cruelty and neglect. (Google will direct you to numerous stories about the seizures and the abhorrent conditions at Trixie.)
In a last minute plea deal in April 2022 he agreed to surrender the animals that had been seized from him 2 years prior, to enter a diversion program that limits the number of animals he can have in his care, AND requires that he comply with inspections.
This "rescue" is, quite simply, run by someone who lacks even basic knowledge of animal welfare. No animals are allowed to be adopted out once they arrive at Trixie. They spend the rest of their days in filthy pens, fighting for subpar food, and with bare bones shelter from the elements.
Please, support an organization that DOES care about the animals. One that provides proper diet, a safe and comfortable home, vet care, toys, treats, walks, and ADOPTION. No animal should suffer for this man's ego; and far too many already have.

The state of Kentucky should bow its head in shame for not shutting this poor excuse for a rescue down for good. Where are his 2019 tax records? Where is the vet records? All the money he scammed people out of and the Kentucky Attorney General is complicit to it all. Should be negative 10+ stars

If I could give zero stars, I would. This man is nothing but a liar and scammer who takes donations and never has provided vet care for any animal in his care. He has NEVER supplied vet records and has NEVER supplied his tax returns showing this money he received. People who send money to him are being misled and scammed. He isn't even good at making it look legit so the donors must be blind. Many, many dogs suffered at the hands of this man. If there were stricker laws in Kentucky he would be paying the price for his crimes! He is a sick man who needs to be shut down and any and all donations he has taken in returned to everyone!

Does this look like "Eden"? This place is nothing but a hoarding situation for animals!

This is the 32 year old organization that began the whole animal protection movement in Kentucky back in the mid 1990s. Making hundreds of Open Records Requests, filing lawsuits against county and state government, it brought an end to euthanasia by gunshot in addition to becoming one of the largest 'no-kill' animal sanctuaries east of the Mississippi River, located on almost 400 secluded acres in eastern Appalachian Kentucky where it has saved hundreds of abandoned, unwanted animals over the many, many years...

I wish I could’ve posted this with a negative 10 star review. This non profit is exploiting its status. There’s been no oversight and as a result this has gone from being a no kill shelter to a lifetime of neglect and abuse for animals. Why is he being allowed to continue collecting funds when he isn’t even following the laws. Where is his annual report? He has no board and no oversight from the state of Kentucky. This is a farce and the Kentucky attorney general is complicit and should be charged for abuse and neglect as well for allowing this to continue.
