I learned of Trips for Kids-Triangle (TFKT) when the Director (Andrea Hundredmark) approached the mountain bike advocacy group that I am a member of looking for volunteers for TFKT.
Since then I've tried to help out in anyway that I can. TFKT has been great to work with and has participated in a couple of our events. Seeing the kids out on the trails: enjoying riding, learning new skills and smiling ear to ear really makes volunteering worthwhile.
I became familiar with Trips for Kids-Triangle because it was started in my school by a great teacher and friend. As I learned more about this wonderful program, I happily jumped on board to help. The difference in the kids who have participated is amazing. Their relationships and behavior in school have completely shifted into positive and productive channels. These students LOVE going out on the rides, working on bikes, and sharing their experiences with others. Trips for Kids is truly one of those rare efforts where your return gain is ten times that of the effort put forth. I truly believe it is postively redirecting the lives of children who were being lead down the wrong path.
