Mission: The mission of easter seals tri-counties, california, is to create solutions that change lives of children and adults with disabilities or other special needs and their families.
Programs: Easter seals is a leading non-profit provider of services for individuals with autism, developmental and physical disabilities as well as other special needs. We provide services for children in the community with occupational, physical, speech and recreational therapy, after-school and pre-school opportunities so that they can achieve independence. Child development center: children ages 18 months to 5 years of all abilities are welcome at our beautiful site in ventura, california where we offer a high-quality, fully integrated program of academic learning through play in areas of art, math, language & literature, social studies and science leading to kindergarten readiness. Our licensed facility offers full and part-day preschool programs with early and extended care; full breakfasts, lunches and snacks; 8:1 child to adult ratio with nurturing, dedicated and experienced multi-lingual staff. We also offer many enrichment classes in our program including swimming, cooking and gardening. Aquatic programs: we offer a unique indoor aquatic facility with a variety of exercise opportunities in an ideal setting for anyone looking for rehabilitation and/or fitness services. Our facility features and indoor pool maintained at a therapeutic 94 degrees. The aquatic center features state of the art aquatic equipment including hydraulic chair lifts, water wheelchairs, aquatic stair steppers, bicycles and treadmills. With the pool being kept at a therapeutic 94 degrees, the buoyancy and warmth of the water helps to decrease muscle and joint pain in order to facilitate muscle relaxation, allowing for greater flexibility and range of motion. Our goal for all of our therapy and fitness clients is to help increase circulation, toning and strengthening for all especially those with limited ability to exercise out of water. We offer a wide variety of classes designed for those suffering or recovering from low back pain, arthritis and other joint issues, stroke recovery, fibromyalgia, post-polio, spinal injuries, cardiovascular problems, sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders. Aquatic physical therapy services are provided by registered physical therapists. Therapy in warm water helps to decrease pain, enhance muscle relaxation, increase strength and flexibility, expand range of motion and improve circulation. The buoyancy of water reduces the pain associated with the compressive forces of gravity, allowing muscles to work more effectively. We also offer extensive learn-to-swim programs taught by american red cross water safety instructors who are cpr and first aid certified. These programs are offered to adults and children of all abilities. We also have programs for children and adults with special needs including autism, asperger's syndrome, down syndrome, cerebral palsy and any other type of developmental, sensory or physical delay. Therapy services: we provide pediatric therapy services for children birth to age 12. Occupational, physical, and speech therapy addresses a child's function in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, self-care, feeding and social skills. Our approach is play-based, non-invasive and meaningful to the child. Therapists use appropriate developmental play to elicit a therapeutic response. Intervention strategies are relationship-based and are designed to encourage joint attention and social reciprocity. We work collaboratively with other programs to assure that children have access to a full complement of appropriate treatment approaches. Please visit our website at www. Eastersealstc.
