Mission: Toxics Action Center’s mission is to work side-by-side with communities in New England, providing residents with the skills and resources needed to prevent or clean up pollution at the local level.
Results: Since 1987, we have helped over 625 communities across New England. We've won many profound victories, from cleanups of hazardous waste sites to reducing emissions from the oldest and dirtiest power plants in the region.
Target demographics: New England
Programs: Toxics action center operates under the belief that everyone has a right to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and live in a healthy community. Our mission is to make these rights a reality by working side-by-side with residents and training them in the skills and know-how they need to run effective local campaigns to protect their health and the environment. We make an effort to leave communities stronger than we find them and to develop long-term civic leaders out of people who often have never engaged in any political work before. Over the last 25 years, toxics action center has assisted more than 700 new england communities representing approximately 10,000 individuals in cleaning up hazardous waste sites, reducing industrial pollution, curbing pesticide use, ensuring healthy land use, promoting clean energy and zero waste, and opposing dangerous waste, energy and industrial facilities. We have offices in all six new england states.
