Mission: Our Mission is to provide inclusive opportunities for effective vocational training, soft skills, and work experience for individuals with disadvantages. Torch 180's vision is to become the leader in innovative, contemporary, inclusive vocational training. We aim to achieve this by acquiring a variety of businesses to provide individuals with disadvantages real-world training, soft skills, and work experience, offering life-changing opportunities to better prepare them for meaningful employment. At Torch 180, we value diversity, inclusion, community, and collaboration.
Target demographics: individuals with neurodiversity and disadvantages to overcome challenges with securing and maintaining gainful employment
Geographic areas served: Fowlerville, Michigan with students from all parts of Livingston County and surrounding areas
Programs: providing opportunities for effective vocational training, soft skills, and work experience in our hands-on vocational training restaurant facility and later this year our retail training marketplace. We offer different levels and types of programming including registered apprenticeships. Torch 180 is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. We are partnered with the Michigan Career & Technical Institute and collaborate with the Livingston Educational Service Agency. Students from local schools, adults within our community, and referrals from a variety of partners participate in our programs. Currently we offer 3 levels of training and registered cook and barista apprenticeships in which students learn basic food safety, develop culinary and employability skills, complete servsafe courses & certifications, and work within the café and coffee bar to gain hands-on, real-life, inclusive work experience. The Torch 180 Cafe & Coffee Bar is open to the public serving dine-in, take-out, and catering customers and hosting event space for meetings and other gatherings. Later this year our retail facility will launch a new retail training program.
