I've worked with Julia and her groups for 15 years. I don't know anyone that works harder to help the dogs than she does. There are so many dogs in need in KY and Julia will move heaven and earth to help all of them. She is a true angel.
I have been a volunteer for the past eight years helping to transport the precious treasure that Julia saves via her rescue TLC. Julia pours her entire heart into saving homeless animals, getting them thorough veterinary care, and matching each dog with its best fit foster-home, adopter, and/or partner rescue organization. She is a tireless, boots-on-the-ground advocate and rescuer who deserves support.
TLC rescue is one of the hardest working group of people who put the needs of each animal before anything. They make sure the dog or cat is fully vetted and spayed/neutered, up to date on all shots and medical needs met. I highly recommend adopting from them and highly recommend donating to their cause.
Julia and the work she does are incredible! Her compassion when it comes to animals is inspiring and unmatched. I have known Julia for many years and she is a warrior and an advocate for these animals. Keep up the amazing work, Julia! You have touched countless lives, both human and animal.
I do transports for TLC and everyone at that rescue works real hard to get the dogs out for rides up north so more can be saved. I"m very impressed with everything they do.
TLC Rescue is one of the very best rescues around. They great care and vetting to the animals they get into their rescue. We adopted Herbie from TLC a couple of years ago. Herbie is a beagle mix that was hit by a car and sustained a fractured pelvis. He crawled to someone’s yard looking for help and that’s when TLC was called and of course they stepped up to help him. They raised the funds for his surgery and recovery. The rest of the story is Herbie was transported to Pa.where we became his family. Thank you TLC for saving the best little beagle ever. He’s very spoiled now as it should be!
Julia and TLC don’t shy away from hard cases. I adopted Gracie from them. She had the nastiest urinary tract infection that took several rounds of antibiotics to make her better. She was overgrown and severely matted. She needed all her rotted teeth removed. Gracie was 14. TLC made it happen!!!

We continue to have such admiration for this rescue and have been working with them for many years. The care, love and the efforts they take in helping dogs, pulling them from terrible situations, and finding incredible homes is truly a skill they have. So many of the animals they take in have had such bad beginnings but are completely reformed and go on to marvelous homes. The cost expended on vetting, boarding and taking care of their dogs goes way above and beyond what most rescues do. We always try to support them as best we can, but this is certainly a rescue worth backing. Their level of care and professionalism is way above the rest. Julia helps many animals, including beagles and hounds, in the eastern Ky area where hunting dogs are used and discarded in shameful numbers.
I have worked with Julia Sharp for almost 20 years and know that she is a fierce advocate for animals. TLC Rescue, Inc. is a small rescue that often takes in dogs that need medical assistance, especially senior beagles. This group recently helped over 100 dogs that were in the most horrific so-called animal sanctuary, every single animal needed medical assistance and a foster or rescue to help them become adoptable. Julia was the one who made this happen and it changed the lives for each of those dogs. Every single donation goes directly to helping the animals. Integrity is Julia's middle name! I am proud to work with her.
I had the opportunity to meet the founder and devoted animal advocate behind TLC during an extensive Kentucky raid a couple years ago. To witness the advocacy and love for animals TLC’s driving force has, was an experience I feel lucky to have been privy too. She single handedly fought to save the lives of animals from an exploiter hoarder for many years. Because of her, so many animals were saved from a grueling slow death… all received top notch medical treatment and much needed Vet care, all animals were placed in a loving foster home (with finally adequate bedding, nutritional food, and an environment they were deserving of). The best part was being able to see the many animals eventually adopted to responsible loving families. TLC has devoted their life to seeing that exploiter hoarders are held accountable and that all animals receive proper care. Can’t say anough good things about this amazing rescue!
The best rescue around! After the Trixie raid and the way she cared for all of those animals my donations won’t go anywhere else. The dogs really do matter to Julia.
This is a fabulous group in an area where very few help those without a voice! This group has saved many animals from terrible conditions with little to no support in an area where animal welfare laws are rarely enforced. The world needs more people who care for the voiceless as much as this group does!
I had a northern rescue and worked with TLC for ten years. They worked out transports and shared their dogs with us trusting we could find them good homes.
The dogs were always their number one priority.
Julia and her rescue are very near and dear to my heart. At last minutes notice, the night before we were to go in to a sanctuary to seize the animals, she got a phone call saying the rescue that was originally to take on the task of caring for the animals backed out. She didn't throw her hands in the air and give up but what she did do is say YES her little rescue would take on this task of caring for and vetting all the animals removed. She didn't stop there. While the rest of us slept, she went home and got busy contacting all of her rescue contacts for help with donations and any that were close enough and able to to help us go in and get the animals out and transport to triage. I am in awe of what this woman and her rescue has withstood. This is an amazing rescue that really cares and will help anyone that they can with animals in need.

Julia is one of the kindest most compassionate rescuers I know. Her rescue goes above and beyond for all the animals that cross her path until they move on to their forever home. She loves all animals and is always their voice, a true activist. She tries to educate the public on how a rescue should be run right. She does it in a way, for those of us with less knowledge or years under our belt, that's non judgmental and really makes a person want to learn more and get excited by helping. Julia is a true friend and awesome rescuer!

These really are the "good guys!" There are so many sketchy "rescues" out there, it's been a really pleasure to work with TLC. I know my donations go to the animals and I know the animals are treated like I would treat them.
I was very sick, I still am not well .I called a friend,she told me who to reach out to for help, TLC rescue.
I had two elderly pugs 10 and 12 years old.
I couldn’t take care of them anymore.
I was so sick and worried about them.
Julia Sharp came to my home quickly and got them both to take care of and foster.After getting them in shape and up to date on everything they needed.She cared and took care of them.She kept me in the know of how they were and even a pic or two.She got them to where they could be adopted out and they went to OSCAR in NJ.They both were adopted rather quickly by their forever families and homes.I am friends now with one of them,that has the oldest pug.He sends me pics and they say,she is the best,bossy pug,and they love her so much.
Julia is an Angel.I hope her hard work and dedication she does will not go unseen or unheard.I would have never found a greater person or place to contact to help my pugs that unforgettable day.I am forever grateful.Thank you again TLC Rescue.

I have fostered for TLC rescue for 7 years now. Julia is absolutely wonderful!! If a dog needs something, there is no mountain she won’t climb to get what that dog needs. Fostering for her has been the best. I’ve fostered for several rescues and TLC is indeed the best.
TLC Rescue is a wonderful organization. I knew of their great reputation but experienced it first hand when I fostered a dog from a terrible hoarding situation. All the dogs confiscated received the emotional and physical care they needed to thrive. This is a knowledge, kind, caring organization.

I became aware of TLC Rescue about 4 years ago through FB. I started seeing the name Julia Sharp in many comments made about recusing. I became a follower and supporter of TLC. Throughout the years this phenomenal lady has worked tirelessly for animal rights and providing a safe place for animals in need. TLC Rescue is a rescue who is solely devoted to keeping the animals healthy and comfortable, no matter the age. This means senior dogs have the chance to live longer and not suffer. Just because they're old and have numerous health problems doesn't mean they are euthanized, if the animal can be pain free with medications then by all means, it will. This is a true rescue who I have the privilege to care for and I'm grateful for what I have seen Julia do for animals.

I "met" Julia through Facebook. I saw a post asking for donations and after reading the story decided to donate what I could afford.
I've dealt with many Rescues and over the years have adopted many. I have found TLC Rescue to be honest and transparent. Julia and her Rescue are ALL about the animals and their care, which includes mental as well as physical. They promote and educate people such as spay and neuter programs. They take on some of the most difficult cases such as older, sick animals who need more than typical medical care.
With Julia, no animal will suffer if she is on the case. I have an enormous respect for her and her Rescue and I plan to donate all I can in the future and to be her friend forever.

As a partner rescue with TLC, I can honestly say that these folks definitely far exceed! These are the boots on the ground people that deal with the locals on daily basis. As a rescue in the NE, what they deal with is simply 'another world' that we don't see other than on social media. We don't have an over population problem like they do in their area, but we assist in being a receiving rescue. They do all the proper vetting required before the animals leave their care and can honestly say that we've never gotten any surprise medical issues from them since they take the time to get everyone in tip top shape to the best of their ability before sending anyone on to their receiving rescues. They truly are top notch!

This rescue works in one of many communities in KY that is overrun with an evergrowing overpopulation issue. Their efforts are tireless and they are key role players in caring for the animals no matter how much is necessary. They are great rescue partners with others outside of their area as well to get the animals to the places where they will be a family member and not just an animal.
As a fellow rescue organization I can attest to the wonderful work done by this group. An unselfish group of highly dedicated volunteers make this one of the best rescues around. They are a huge asset to the world of animal welfare.

I have worked closely w/Julia at TLC Rescue for many years and know of multiple wonderful rescue stories worth repeating. However, one really stands out that many may not be aware and I'd like to share that with your readers. A young woman from the West Coast was traveling to her university in the East Coast with her dog and driving through Eastern KY. When merging back onto the interstate after a brief stop, there was a bad wreck involving the young woman's vehicle and a tractor-trailer truck and her car was smashed up and windows broken out and her dog escaped into the wilds around the interstate. Julia Sharp personally went from stores, to gas stations, to vet clinics, to county government offices, to state parks in the vicinity posting flyers about the lost dog. She was "dogged" (pun intended) in her efforts to alert the locals of the missing dog - and this wasn't where Julia lived - she traveled to the area where the wreck occurred to spread the word. Months later, a shaggy, tick-infested, starving dog was seen at a home and the individuals remembered having seen the posters earlier, and lo and behold, IT WAS THE MISSING DOG FROM THE WRECK! The owners and the dog were reunited, all thanks to Julia's extraordinary efforts. She didn't know these people, it didn't happen in her hometown, but there was a dog in need, and she responded passionately - and her efforts paid off. This isn't the greatest rescue I've known Julia to be involved in - that would be from a bogus "sanctuary" holding/mistreating more than 100 dogs - and many people know that story. But the love of dogs and knowing there was a single dog out there in dire straights and in a foreign area caused Julia to spend her time and money and legwork to help. She is an incredible person, working on a shoestring budget, saving as many animals as she can - way more than most people could fathom being able to help. I have so much respect and admiration for Julia Sharp and her group of volunteers at TLC Rescue. They're the "real deal" when it comes to animal rescuers!

This rescue is by far one of the BEST rescues I've ever worked with. The passion they have for saving the neglected, abused and throw away dogs of Kentucky is beyond no other. They do not hesitate to jump in and save a pup. If there was a 10 star rating they would have it. RESCUE ON TLC.

I've been working with TLC for approximately five years now. I've followed their many success stories and have seen they way they care about the animals they help. They have a large enough network to work effectively, but small enough to properly oversee every aspect of each animal's care. They also provide an incredible amount of support even after an animal is adopted. They are always there to answer any questions and help guide you through the process of getting an animal acclimated to a new home.
It can be hard to choose where to donate your hard-earned dollars, but this is one charity that I donate to regularly because I know that my money is always well spent. If you too care about animals, I strongly urge you to donate to this charity, as I do on an ongoing basis, and adopt animals from this rescue, as I have done.
When you think about rescue, most people just think its taking in happy dogs and cats and tail wags and cuddling and just piles and piles of puppies. But it's so much more, and so much more emotional than I ever thought. These people are literally saving the lives of animals and, at the risk of sounding ridiculous, pulling them from the jaws of hell. They put these animals ahead of themselves, ahead of their own lives and wants and needs. Sometimes making sure these animals are cared for and eat before they do. One of the animal advocates at TLC Rescue is my mother in law. I've watched with my own eyes while she's nursed hundreds of dogs and cats back to health. These poor dogs come to her on death's doorstep. Days from death. She brings them back from the brink in ways that make your heart cry. You can look in the eyes of these dogs and know immediately that they understand they are finally, finally safe. Finally in a place of love, finally able to eat, sleep on something soft, be INDOORS. Our two cats come from TLC; wild ferals born to a cat dumped by her owner in rural KY to be left to the elements, heavily pregnant. I look at my cats and know that if it weren't for TLC and these incredible people, my cats... and so many other cats and dogs, are left to their own. Domesticated animals we've taken into our homes, released into the wild like they aren't part of families. The only missions for TLC is to save these animals. Give them love, food, the chance to survive. They work tirelessly to bring them to health, find them forever homes with people ready to love. That's what this organization is about. Love. Love for God's creatures. Love for what these animals bring to our lives. Love for their wellbeing. My favorite charity, ever.
We have been partnering with TLC Rescue since they began and with their members for years before that,. TLC puts their heart and souls into saving and helping the lives of dogs from the Rowan County and surrounding area.
