Causes: Technology
Mission: At third place technologies our mission is to foster community empowerment and well-being through innovation in technology. We envision a future that leverages technologies in new ways, helping communities work together more effectively to achieve their common goals. Core activities include a) development of new community technologies, b) engagement with community leaders and citizens to increase community capacity through technology, c) community events, and d) knowledge sharing so that others may leverage our expertise.
Programs: The program service category "community technology development and deployment" primarily includes spokin, an online web site with community analytics and community-curated networking tools, allowing members to connect with their local collaborative communities - such as neighborhoods and nearby interest groups - so they can work together to get things done. Currently spokin community membership is by invitation only, however many of its knowledge features are public and open to browsing.
program service category "community engagement and events" includes workshops and events organized to develop community capacity of target collaborative communities. For 2017 these events included a creative collaboration retreat called electric sky, a pop-up maker space and exhibition called the wondering woods. Revenue was from ticket sales at electric sky.
