Programs: Residential treatment program (rt), child welfare residential program (cwr), shelter program and supervised independent living program (sil) - the residential programs are housed at the rosemont location, along with administrative functions. The residential treatment program serves adolescent girls with serious mental health and behavioral health issues. The program also includes a licensed private special education school which works with an individual educational plan for each identified youth. This program served 78 youth in fy 2017 with an average length of stay of 7 months. The rt program has a capacity of 56 beds which includes a cottage that was recently renovated. The move to all girls programming continues to show positive results, such as improved response to a variety of therapies and reduced incidence of negative behaviors. The rt program is supported by volunteers who provide tutoring, recreational activities (running, knitting, drumming, gardening), and a broad range of life skills activities. Thevillage has continued to integrate the creative arts into our programming, including art and dance therapy, equine therapy, pet therapy and attendance at cultural events. Other accomplishments included continued utilization of the sanctuary model of trauma informed cared following certification in fy 2011. The fourteen bed child welfare residential/shelter cottage was opened in january of 2013 and serves girls placed through county children and youth agencies. Girls in this program go to school in the community or to thevillage on-site school. The sil program serves older adolescents preparing for independence. All are enrolled in school (high school, trade school, college) and/or have part time employment. During the year, a total of 12 youth were served by case management services from staff and life skills instruction provided by staff and volunteers. Generous support from donors provides many amenities and experiences for residential clients.
community child welfare and prevention programs - community based and prevention services are provided from thevillage location in southwest philadelphia. Community based services include foster care, kinship care, in-home services, adoption and a range of prevention services. A total of 104 youth were served in the foster care programs, 65 families were served in the in-home safety net program, and 123 families in the family empowerment services program. Thevillage provided 104 billable adoption services during fy 2017. Thevillage also provided prevention programs during the year in southwest philadelphia including out of school time programs at two elementary schools offering after school care and full day summer camp. The after school program (out of school time/ost) again sustained 100% capacity. The southwest community partners in the community included topics such as: domestic violence, drug prevention, truancy prevention, child safety, youth engagement, job readiness, back pack project, warm coats give away. Donors provide gifts and basic necessities for many children and families in the community-based and prevention programs.
behavioral health programs - outpatient mental health services including individual, family and group therapy and psychiatric services were provided. The behavioral health program continued to see significant growth. With special staff training, the program continued to provide several highly effective evidence-based therapies for young children, including parent child interactive therapy (pcit), trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (tfcbt) and play therapy. During fy 2017, thevillage continued participation in the cbh philadelphia alliance for child trauma services (pacts) program and the outpatient program continues to receive recognition from cbh for outstanding trauma work. The satellite site at the chop care network cobbs creek location continued to see an increase in request for services. The total number of youth served in the outpatient program in fy 2017 was 752. The average length of stay for outpatient clients was 6. 16 months
