Mission: By preserving the legacy of Joel Chandler Harris and the heritage of African American folklore through storytelling, tours and special events, the Wren’s Nest serves as an educational resource and entertainment venue for the community, the greater Atlanta area and visitors from around the globe.
Target demographics: preserve our significant historic site, champion storytelling, and cultivate readers and writers through educational and cultural programming.

Programs: Historic House Tours - highlighting the life of Harris, the significance of the Brer Rabbit folktales, and trends in Atlanta history Storytelling Performances - allowing visitors to hear the tales in the spirit of their original form Free Book for Early Readers - affiliation with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, reaching 400+ local youth Scribes Youth Writing Program - targeting young authors in grades 5-8 Curated Events and Programs
