That, by providing these types of services, historic locations, the environment and ecological systems are forever preserved and growing societal awareness for the same is fostered. Said purposes will continue for as long as the united states wetland conservatory, inc. Remains in existence. In this regard, at last estimate, one-half of the world's wetlands have been lost since 1900, and their destruction continues through drainage and conversion of land from its natural state to agricultural and/or urban uses. Accordingly, a mind-set must be developed whereby everyone appreciates wetlands as water's source and storage instead of an area to be drained and developed.
