Causes: International, International Development
Mission: To prevent illegal killing of hucho hucho taimen in mongolia through 1) enforcement of local laws and regulations against poaching, 2) promotion of sustainable fishing and natural reproduction, and 3)community education.
Programs: Taimen protection - during fy 2017, the organization had successful action by a team of 10 taimen poaching patrollers (river keepers) in mongolia's eg-uur watershed, positive and informative communications with mongolia's regulatory agencies regarding fishing regulations for protection and enhancement of sustainable wild taimen fishery in mongolia, and established the taimen alliance, a team of international and mongolian outfitters and resource managers to protect mongolia's taimen fishery and opportunities for sustainable ecotourism. Also, the organization was able to complete intensive outreach to towns in taimen habitat regarding the protection of mongolia's national treasure, the hucho taimen. This outreach was completed via mongolian fishing clubs, angling shops, and airports. The taimen fund also partially funded genetics research on taimen by dr sudeep chandra, university of nevada-reno ($15,000).
