Mission: The sumba foundation is a u. S. -based public, nongovernmental 501(c)(3) charity. The foundation is dedicated to helping the indigenous people of sumba by improving the quality of their lives through better health, education, clean water, malaria control, and income generation, a key component in achieving the long-term goal of lessening the oppressive impacts of poverty.
Programs: The sumba foundation made several grants to provide public welfare programs on the island of sumba. Among the current programs in sumba supported by grants from sumba foundation are:a health care program with several medical clinics. A malarial control program servicing the needs of 20,000 people in west sumba. A water project operating wells and pumping stations to provide clean water to more than 15,000 people in 164 villages. An education program repairs schools, provides teaching supplies, and conducts classes in hygiene and english language skills for 4,000 primary school students.
