Mission: The Seesaw Center was established in November 1991, born from conversations between two mothers who felt isolated during harsh weather and long winter days. Realizing that many other parents shared these feelings, they envisioned creating a small indoor play space, similar to a classroom, and sought community support. The response was overwhelmingly positive. The Seesaw Center opened its doors on January 2, 1993, thanks to the dedicated efforts of a search committee led by Kathleen Higgins, who reached out to local churches and synagogues to find an affordable location. We are proud to be located on the ground level of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. In 2011, we achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, affirming our commitment to serving the community as a tax-exempt organization. Today, The Seesaw Center primarily funds its operations through membership fees, but to ensure its continued sustainability amidst rising costs, we rely increasingly on donations, sponsorships, and grants. The Center is managed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors from the local community.
