The Salvation Army is a horrible place to work. Here are some of the reasons why:

-They discriminate against gays and women.
-They won't give reasons for any decisions. You are expected to do what you're told to do, period. No logic. No teamwork. No respect.
-Almost everyone is related and you only move up in the organization if you grew up as a Salvationist. And if you go to their boring church every day.
-They say they are doing the most good but their actions do not reflect how Christians should treat their clients and staff.
-They take forever to get any work done.
-They have dumb rules like most staff can't have work email on their phone.
-Computer/technology issues taken months to be fixed.
-They wear creepy uniforms that should have been burned in the 1600s. Women have to wear dresses and weird shoes and keep their hair up.
-They pay the majority of their employees too low of a wage to be able to support themselves, and definitely too low to have a family.
-The CEOs aka Area Commanders are husband and wife which is odd. They frequently fight and disagree and tell staff to do conflicting things.
-When hired they tell you one of the perks is tuition. But that is never included in the budget. They don't help their employees grow and learn.
-They don't train the majority of their staff. They just let them sink or swim. They also fire people and throw someone in as their replacement.

DO NOT WORK FOR THE SALVATION ARMY. You will be poor and frustrated and miserable. If you decide to try working for them, be sure to document everything in writing for the entire time you work there to cover yourself. Create a personal email and BCC all emails you get to that so you have a copy. Keep your evaluations too.
