The Rock School For Dance Education

Programs: The school has trained dancers for the premier companies of the united states as well as europe, asia and broadway. There are currently rock school dancers in every major ballet company in the united states as well as abroad. The school offers a full range of programs for all ages. The rock experience instills in students self discipline and an eagerness to learn and succeed, enriching their lives regardless of the careers they ultimately pursue. Annual enrollment exceeds 1,100 students and scholarships of over $900,000 are awarded per year for dance, academics, residency and other programs.

summer - the rock school ballet intensive is a selective, audition-only program that immerses aspiring dancers in a comprehensive experience with a superior permanent and guest faculty. Approximately 1,200 students world-wide audition for the program that teaches approximately 450 students.

rock west - this branch school has large, mostly avocational student body. It offers a full range of programs for all ages. Rock west produces and develops talented students for rock center as well as musical theater and jazz dancers. As with rock center, the rock west branch school experience instills in students self-discipline and an eagerness to learn, enriching their lives regardless of the careers they ultimately pursue.

rock academics is a full service program for grades 7 through 12 and attracts a dedicated diverse community of young dancers whose passion for dance is enhanced by a unique college preparatory curriculum. The accredited program provides flexibility in scheduling and individual support as well as dual preparation for artistic careers and higher education. Students move forward at a pace customized to their individual needs and abilities and can earn both high school and college credits, critical to young artists who often spend their college years in professional companies. The program has produced both merit and presidential scholars. The residence is located in the marine club apartment/condos directly across the street from rock center dance building, occupying 17 apartments on one floor. The residence director and residence associates live on the floor with the students, providing 24 hour care for each student, ensuring that students are well supported while living away from home. The marine club provides 24 hour security. The residence team, school directors, director of student affairs, and board of trustees work together to plan exciting, educational as well as fun events and activities for students. Students hail from greater philadelphia, across the united states, canada, japan, china, australia, france, russia, switzerland, israel and latin america. Rock reach is a multifaceted arts education program that provides. In-school and after-school dance training, physical fitness and activities designed to inspire and motivate inner city, at-risk youth to engage in their academics, develop their awareness of future opportunities, and channel their mental and physical energy into positive and constructive action. Rock reach achieves it goals by implementing: 1. Residencies at 30+ public schools 2. Reaching 15,000 inner city children through its dynamics of dance program. This program includes a wide variety of inter-active lecture demonstrations and a full array of repertoire pieces. 3. Gives 30-40 talented youth from families in great need the opportunity to study and train several times a week, expanding professional potential to as many as 25 hours per week.
