I joined the board as a college student and I have been wowed at the opportunities for growth I have been presented with. I feel that I have been empowered to help others by participating in our programming. For example, I volunteered at our local food drive/fundraiser, The Righditarod, and I met so many caring community members as well as a few who weren't even participating in the event. The best interaction I had that day was with a mother and her daughter. They didn't know about the event, they just stumbled on the booth I was volunteering at. The mother was pleasantly surprised to see this kind of programming in her town and the daughter wanted to get involved with our food drive next year. This experience is just one of the many examples that working with The Right Path has presented me with. These experiences have shaped who I am as well as what I believe in. The Right Path is a wonderful nonprofit.
The Right Path of Washington County is unlike any other organization of which that I have been involved. This group of community leaders and members truly cares about the youth of Washington County as is evidenced by their willingness to get personally involved in providing positive activities and programs for teens. As is often the case in many communities, good, fun and safe activities for teens are often hard to find which often times leads to them making poor choices. The Right Path provides positive social events such as swim parties and dances in the summer; drug-free campaigns; various school curriculum programs such as anti-bullying; and intervention services. This small group of dedicated volunteers is truly making a difference in the lives of our local youth. It is a great Non-Profit!
The Right Path of Washington County has provided healthy choices to youth through teen dances and swim parties in the summer and community service opportunities throughout the year. The teens lives have been impacted through leadership trainings and positive influences of peers and adults. Although running on a shoe-string budget with one paid professional and many volunteers, The Right Path is an excellent program.
The Right Path is an excellent program for the youth of Washington County. The program provides swim parties, dances and opportunities for participants to interact in a healthy, safe environment. Cathy Harper does an excellent job!!
The Right Path of Washington County has changed many young lives in the years it has been active. Teen dances, swim parties and various activities help show the youth in the county that there are alternate things to do besides drugs and alcohol. Many of the troubled youth that has participated have turned in to leaders in the activities. They have the opportunity to make an activity their own, take pride in it and see how success feels. For some, it is the first time they have been able to do this.
I am honored to serve on The Right Path for Washington County Board of Directors. This organization works diligently and on a small budget to provide activities, education and support in the effort to promote healthy development for our youth through summer social events, drug-free campaigns, school curriculum, and intervention services. Our Board of Directors and one paid professional plus a band of volunteers have made a difference to youth for several years in Washington County, Ohio. Through grant funding, local contributions and fundraising, these services continue to grow as we maintain our mission to promote healthy choices in our youth.
I have been aware of The Right Path since it's inception and use to be an active board member. This organization does so much for the youth of our county. It amazes me what they are able to do with limited funds and a lot of hard work from volunteers. I would love to see them get more funding. I know it would be used wisely to promote and provide positive drug-free activities to our youth!
I have been involved with The Right Path since its inception and am quite aware of the many activities and thousands of man-hours that have been invested to help our children. The organization stretches its dollars and is very frugal In all regards. Hundreds, probably thousands, of Washington County young people have benefited from this highly worthwhile program.
This organization provides excellent support to students within the school district that I am associated with. They are a valuable asset to the education of students in Washington County.
As guidance counselor at a school whose students are served by the Right Path of Washington County, I whole-heartedly recommend this organization for the Great Nonprofit award. The Right Path has been vital to the healthy development of youth living in Washington County (Southeastern Ohio) in a number of ways:
First, by providing promoting fun and safe drug-free events and activities such as:
• Supporting school activities, including Red Ribbon Week events at Frontier High and Middle School for the past several years
• Weekly family pool parties each summer, open to all area residents
• Weekly dances for high school students, open to all area residents
Second, by helping students develop leadership skills by:
• hosting Youth Leadership summits for junior high and high school students
• participating in College and Career day programs at Frontier High and Middle School
• encouraging students to be active, community-minded and drug-free
Third, by teaching by example the importance of community service by:
• organizing the annual “Rightidarod” race against hunger food drive – and working with students in Frontier’s Key Club to form teams and participate
• encouraging students to conduct food drives to support their own communities
• helping secure a beautiful prom dress for a student unable to afford to go to the prom, which the student had helped fund-raise and plan for over a period of three years
This is just a small sample of the ways in which Right Path has helped individual students as well as whole communities. Those involved with this organization take such a strong, personal interest in each individual student they meet – and that has such a positive impact on those students! Every time I have asked the Right Path for any kind of help or support, I have received above and beyond what I needed.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about this incredible organization and the many things it does.
