engagement of families with young children - the partnership pursues a dual track of initiatives with a goal of empowering families with young children to take charge of their own jewish family plan. One track is to convene the directors of the community's network of over 30 jewish early childhood programs and through regular meetings and conferences to guide and support them in efforts to connect in meaningful ways with their families to promote ongoing and meaningful jewish activities in their homes. Our other track uses resources such as the pj library, which reaches over 3,000 households monthly, to reach families with young children directly and to involve them in communal jewish family activities. We also work with families for longer duration through initiatives like the jewish family concierge to guide and support each family along their own jewish journey
metrowest day school initiative jewish day school is one of the most successful builders of jewish identity, and so the partnership is the home of this initiative that has increased enrollment as its goal. This goal is pursued through the dual tracks of affordability and academic excellence. The affordability effort provides funding for greater metrowest day schools to offer subvention grants for middle-income families, families who do not qualify for the schools' scholarship funds but who otherwise could not afford to pay full tuition. The academic excellence program provides grants to the schools to enhance science and technology and israel programming. The quest for teaching excellence - the cornerstone of the academic excellence effort - is a very significant investment in the professional development of every educator in every school, providing professional guidance for the teachers, funding for them to pursue professional development courses or programs, and opportunities for collaboration with other educators within each school and among all the schools.
