Mission: The orange bowl committee exists as an independent organization to support and produce activities and events that enhance the image, economy, and culture of south florida
Programs: This past year, the committee hosted the capital one orange bowl game and affiliated festival events promoting south florida tourism and attracting tens of thousands of visitors who fuel the local economy with millions of dollars. This translates into jobs and benefits local businesses, in line with our mission. Based on economic impact studies, it is estimated our 2016-17 bowl game and festival events generated over $225 million in economic impact and media added value for south florida. for the past 19 years, the committee has financially supported local youth sports leagues, generating competition and funding an array of grants, donations and community programs to support this competition. the obc made a charitable contribution for the renovation of harris field park; an existing city park located in the city of homestead. The committee entered into an agreement with the city of homestead to supervise and oversee on a turnkey basis the installation of a new synthetic turf football and soccer field, a new sound system, and a new scoreboard at harris field to be used for youth athletic competitions, as well as the community at large. The project also included renovations of restrooms, locker roooms, concessions, press box, and associated improvments.
