I am delighted to be affiliated with The Open Door Youth Outreach. For nearly 25 years, this program has been "a place where children that God loves can meet people who love God" - a safe harbor for play, recreation, nurture, and mentoring. Many of the current volunteers are adults who have grown up on the programs of The Open Door and are now seeking to give back to the center with their own time and energy.

For instance, this Fall the Open Door has begun an after school program, The staff person responsible for its facilitation grew up attending events within the Open Door. She went to a local college, has worked in a variety of local schools and obtained an advanced degree. Now, she has taken a position here in order to help shape the lives of the children in our own community. Her example is inspiring others to be generous with their own resources.
