The Learning Lamp is amazing with helping children grow and learn. The staff is experienced with children and form bonds with them by getting to know the parents as well. We were lucky enough to receive scholarship money for the preschool program and it has been a huge financial relief for us at a time where things are so uncertain. Without the scholarship money, I'm not sure that we would have been able to continue preschool.

I am very pleased with the Learning Lamp nonprofit organization. The ability to apply for the grant helped with the expense tremendously. I Also am very please with the fact that Learning Lamp uses the Smartcare app which gives a detailed account of where and when my child arrives and leaves which eases my worries with traveling a fair distance. I am also very pleased with the Learning Lamp teacher Ms. Alyssa Wertman using Class Dojo to keep in contact and sharing. I also am very pleased that Learning Lamp counter-acting the Corona virus by altering the weeks of learning with cyber learning. With the cyber week learning Teachers send home the work that keep the students engaged in learning. Overall I am very pleased with Learning Lamp program thus far.

The Learning Lamp has been so helpful with their after school program. I have used this program since my son has been in Kindergarten. He is now in 5th grade. He got help with his homework there, it was great cause after school he just went to the the Learning Lamp room. I work until 5 pm everyday and it helped me out so much not having to burden anyone to pick him up from school. I would just pick him up after I got off work. I volunteer every year for The Learning Lamp, they are a lifesaver for me in helping me with my tuition to send my son to a private school. I don't know what I would do without them. Thank you so much for being there for my son Lorenzo and me & working with us. You are absolute the best!

The Interact Club at Greater Johnstown High School appreciates The Learning Lamp participating in our “Read Return Repeat” Library Box project. It’s located outside their office on Bedford Street and stocks books for kids of all ages along with school supplies, hygiene items, and coats, hats and mittens in the winter. Thanks for keeping it stocked all year long. Our Interact Club members have also volunteered with The Back Pack Project, run out of the Learning Lamp basement, which provides weekend food for so many kids in the area and is so needed.

The Learning Lamp (TLL) has continuously served as an example to the community of a reputable, well-run non-profit organization. Organizations throughout the state recognize TLL as leaders in their field, working with families and schools to meet the needs of students. The leadership and staff are phenomenal. It is an honor to serve as a Board Member of this great organization.

The Learning Lamp is a remarkable community asset! The agency Currently delivers childcare services in in 5 daycare centers, preschool programs, and before and after school care at 10 local districts - our staff provides their kiddos with an engaging, secure, fun environment. Helping children succeed is the cornerstone of their mission. Not only delivered in the centers, but through other programming such as tutoring, prevention programs, credit recovery, and cyberschool support. The staff brings a tremendous amount of passion and dedication to the organization and its constituents.
Located on the outskirts of the city of Johnstown, The Learning Lamp also provides free outreach programming to at-risk youth at 3 locations. Children within the neighborhoods of Moxham, Oakhurst and Coppersdale receive a hot meal after school 4 days per week and homework help. Fun is also in the mix with field trips and 2-weeks of camp during the summer. Many of these children do not have engaged parenting and good social support. Our staff makes them feel important and helps them navigate through their many challenges providing them with a secure safety net.
Our Johnstown community and its outlying areas struggle economically - by putting the mission into practice through programming The Learning Lamp helps children succeed emotionally, academically and socially. As we build and invest in our youth, the hope for our area is to stop the "brain drain", keeping our smart and talented individuals and families here - reinvesting in the next generation.

My experience with The Learning Lamp began 8 years ago when I volunteered with the After School Outreach Program located in one of Johnstown's most at risk neighborhoods. The After School Outreach Program operates Mondays through Thursdays and provides homework help, activities and dinner to the children who need it most. It was such a blessing to volunteer once a week with The Learning Lamp's staff and with the children. My job took me out of the area for a few years but after moving back to Johnstown I found myself interested in a career change from retail management into the nonprofit sector. I reconnected with The Learning Lamp and began an AmeriCorps service term as the Coordinator for the Cambria County Backpack Project. The Learning Lamp is one of the Project's partner agencies and provides the donated space for the food pantry, office and supervisory support to the Cambria County Backpack Project. I recently completed my term and was offered a job as the role of Development Associate with The Learning Lamp. I work in the office where the culture is exceptional. The staff work together towards common goals and are so passionate about what they do for the organization. I have been blessed to be involved with the After School Outreach Program again and it truly has been life changing for me! It is so awesome to see real work being done to better the lives of children who would be forgotten if The Learning Lamp's programming did not exist. It is humbling to be a part of and I can honestly say that working for this nonprofit has greatly improved my life and I look forward to the future.

I work with the Learning Lamp delivering performance based drug and alcohol prevention programs to area schools, and working at their after school outreach program several days a week. The Learning Lamp is very focused on the youth of the community and their well-being both in and out of the classroom. The Learning Lamp has impacted countless lives through their spirit of selfless service. What a great organization to be a part of!

This organization has been an invaluable resource for my family. My daughter has benefited from day care, pre-school, after school programs and summer camps. She not only has fun but she is learning continually. She has made so many friends and I'm able to work while being confident that she is safe. Thanks Learning Lamp for all you do for our community.

My daughter attended many summer camp programs which were some of the most memorable experiences of her elementary and junior high years. In high school she struggled in a few subjects and received excellent tutoring from the Learning Lamp which did a great job in providing study skills and tools that helped her in her high school studies and beyond. As a result, she attained an academic scholarship for a Pittsburgh College and has been on the dean's list every semester. I was so impressed with the quality of the Learning Lamp programs and its contributions to our community, that I volunteered to serve on its board of directors.

Our son started in the child care program at The Learning Lamp, then went through the preschool program, and now attends the after school program. This year he started kindergarten and is excelling beyond our expectations! I am thankful to The Learning Lamp for preparing him for school and for providing him with a safe place to go after school where we know he will receive a healthy snack and homework help.

The Learning Lamp is a wonderful organization, the services they provide for the under served
children of the Johnstown and surrounding communities is amazing. The impact that they
are making in the community is noticeable. I have volunteered at the after school programs
you can see first hand that the children are really helped with homework and growing as
individuals hopefully to help create a good community for themselves and their families in
the area. It is a worth while cause to donate to for the growth of the children that attend.
