Mission: The league of professional system administrators (lopsa) is a nonprofit corporation with members throughout the world. Our mission is to advance the practice of system administration; to support, recognize, educate, and encourage its practitioners; and to serve the public through education and outreach on system administration issues.
Programs: Mentorship program: lopsa provides a "match-maker" service for people that want to be mentors and people that want to be proteges. Proteges write a 1-paragraph description of a project they want to be mentored on and they are matched up with a mentor.
system administration awareness programming through online media, conference presence (e. G. Lisa 2017), local chapter meetings and events (e. G. Sysadmin day lunches), and awards. This awareness benefits thousands of our constituents. Expenses include shipping costs for promotional materials, conference registration and travel fees, meals and entertainment, as well as award programs for community service (chuck yerkes award).
online community services (e. G. Websites and email lists) provided to the system administration community for the purposes of professional networking, knowledge sharing and awareness.
organizes professional two-day conference (cascadia it 2017) where invited speakers present day-long trainings and 90 minute lectures on topics relevant to system administrators' career goals and skills requirements. Cascadia it 2017 had about 70 registered attendees.
