Is a research and educational non profit organization whose mission is to foster programs and policies that create sustainability in community food security, renewable energy, intentional community, resource recycling, clean transportation, natural and green building, local currency, and environmental conservation and protection. The leaflight, inc. Practices research, education, and planning for local, regional, and state agencies, non profits, businesses, and citizens.
Programs: The 21st century farmers' markets has four primary goals: (1) a statewide assessment, (2) enrollment of agricultural retailers in usda food and nutrition services (snap), (3) community education and outreach for public health and nutrition, and (4) permanent participation of north carolina agricultural retailers in the usda food and nutrition services snap through sustainable development. As part of its core services, the leaflight created a uniform statewide participation application for its program that is evaluated and scored for the selection of agricultural retailers. The 21st century farmers' markets payment system design is unique in the usa. By design, the leaflight can serve increasing numbers of markets and farmers. Leaflight presently serves 16 farmers' market locations. In 2012, the organization expects to add an additional six farmers' market locations with approximately 150 additional farmers.
