Mission: The mission of the jonnycake center of peace dale is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families by providing comprehensive assistance to those in need of food, clothing, and household items and through individual and systemic advocacy for our clients.
Programs: Emergency food pantry: the center manages several programs out of its food pantry, which is open five days a week. In 2016, the center distributed close to 280,000 pounds of food through monthly pantry visits, weekly school vacation meals and summer produce pick-ups, and deliveries to homebound seniors. We served more than 2,000 individuals, including 400 individuals who sought our assistance for the first time. These individuals made 7,820 trips to our pantry. Our pantry offers fresh produce, milk and eggs, and frozen meats and poultry.
client services: our member services team takes a comprehensive approach to working with our visitors. They assess the needs of households, provide referrals, and are now providing more direct interventions, such as financial assistance for families facing utility shut-offs and/or eviction and one-on-one coaching to help our members pursue longer-term health and financial wellness goals. In addition, we provide members with young children diapers and other infant and toddler supplies; nutrition and hygiene products to high school students; and free or low-cost clothing, furniture and housewares to all of our members in need of these items through our thrift store.
