Programs: Shopping centers are an integral part of their local communities and the icsc foundation promotes and recognizes the charitable initiatives of its members. In 2017, this program service area included a one-time $500,000 member matching grant to the american red cross for hurricane disaster relief efforts and $84,440. 28 for the partnering charities of the recipients of the foundations community support awards.
the foundation provides undergraduate and graduate scholarships to students interested in retail real estate. These scholarships are offered directly by the foundation or funded through partner universities. Generally, scholarships cover tuition and related expenses with some additional funding to cover attendance at industry events.
the icsc foundation offers professional development scholarships to new and emerging professionals in the field. These scholarships offer a week of rigorous study at the john t. Riordan schools for retail real estate professionals where attendees learn from experts, share ideas and identify successful strategies alongside colleagues from around the world. In addition, the mary lou fiala fellowship is awarded annually to a rising industry professional. Each fiala fellow is required to complete a year-long industry related research project.
