I've never seen an organization so intertwined with on-the-ground resources and motivated people. These are advanced thinkers making the most of everything they have to serve the people of South Sudan. The foundation is based on a philosophy of serving the community over the long-term and every choice is made using these values.

I joined Dr Dumba into northern Uganda to survey refugee camps and found that there are no better people available to serve the medical needs of the South Sudanese people. We were helping the nationals and refugees in an impactful way and we need to continue doing it.

My first knowledge of the Healing Kadi Foundation was the year Dr. Joesph Dumba and Wayne Naro decided to form a foundation to bring Medical assistance to the people of South Sudan, Dr. Dumba's native country. Then I was able to go on three medical missions trips and also be part of the Healing Kadi Teas for the past couple years. My experience was one of a heart felt love for the people of S. Sudan who experienced much conflict in their lives and who a few years ago celebrated the formation of their own country...South Sudan. From the time of my first trip in 2009 til my last in 2013 I saw the S. Sudanese people work with very little resources to build new homes, establish needed business and offer educations to the many children there; and they did it with hope and a smile. All funds collected through the HKF were used to provide medical assistance during these trips and in the past few years through the Marilyn Miller Clinic on a year round basis. In progress is the building of a hospital for even better medical work...but it's now on hold. But through the hope and faith of the S. Sudanese people I pray that this work will continue in the near future. Some may see this as a hopeless situation, but I know the people and I see it as hopeful because the Healing Kadi is the people of South Sudan. Right now the team from the Marilyn Miller Clinic are in Uganda providing all they can to help those in the Refuge Camp, but funds for medical, food and living essentials are limited and the need is great. Praying that my friends there will endure and soon return to their land and homes.
