This is AmeriCorps NCCC Buffalo 4 reporting and my team LOVE everyone at the Gress Mountain Ranch! I must commend Kathy and Ben Gress for the AWESOME job they do running the ranch. They are some dedicated people...and I would love for others to assist them as much as they can by volunteering at the Ranch!! You get to here the unique history behind each animal as well as learn some things about farming. Go extend a hand at the Gress Mountain Ranch- Keiana Coombs, AmeriCorps NCCC 2012

Volunteering at The Gress Mountain Ranch is tremendously rewarding. I never know what my volunteer hours will entail from week to week. Twice, I have helped Kathryn Gress administer an IV to Nataliee (a very special turkey). I often work with the ducks, and other outdoor "birds." Feeding and cleaning up after LeRoy Piggy is also something that is quite rewarding. I've learned how to help make certain that his body temperature is in a safe range. LeRoy has a brain tumor and body temperature regulation challenges. Cleaning his area and giving him medicine are also tasks I enjoy. On Thursday, I was able to witness a community of fire fighters, EMS workers, Animal Rescue Team volunteers, a vetrinarian and other Gress mTn. Ranch volunteers (and business people with their own equipment - freely donating their time) save Elle, a Belgian Plow Horse. She had fallen in the South Pasture. It was amazing to see everyone work so hard to help Elle... She made it! Whether it is helping by cleaning the pastures or filling water dishes, volunteering at The Gress Mountain Ranch is extremely fulfilling. The Ranch needs more volunteers and the animals need donations. Please see www.gressmountainranch.com for additional information and ways to help.
