Mission: To support (1) research on the major mental disorders; (2) programs that educate both the general public and non-mental health professionals on the proper recognition and treatment of major mental disorders.
Programs: (1) supported ongoing analysis of extensive data set regarding bipolar patients resulting in 23 publications, 3 presentations, and 1 poster presentation at scientific meetings. (2) supported a web based program designed to enhance adherence to prescribed medications in bipolar patients resulting in 1 publication and 2 scientific presentations. (3) supported policy studies on the impact of managed care on quality and innovation in mental health care including participation in 1 symposium, several formal discussion groups, and blog postings. (4) supported the work of a senior investigator at george washington university medical center, focused on maintenance pharmacological treatment in bipolar disorder. This work resulted in 3 presentations at national and international meetings.
