Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Community Improvement & Capacity Building
Mission: The mission is to bring together artists of international and local reputation, various musical and service organizations, educational institutions, and professional and ethnic groups in a variety of diverse and stimulating creative projects that reach a broad cross-section of the community.
Programs: Since 1984, we have coordinated classical, ethnic, and jazz concerts, opera, dance performances, master classes and children's concerts. In recent years under the aptos community foundation, the distinguished artists concert and lecture series has presented the san francisco sinfonieta orchestra (2010), several internationally known pianists, including russian pianist yevgeny sudbin (2011), and recently, the chamber orchestra kremlin from moscow with pianist sara davis buechner (2012). Attendance for these three events exceeded our attendance expectations. Further, we have discovered that there is a larger audience in the community for chamber orchestra concerts which we will continue to present. Visit our website at www. Distinguishedartists. Org. We also held a presentation by amit peled and pianist noreen polera of cello highlights in the tradition of the great masters (casals, piatigorsky, jacqueline du pre, yo yo ma) in a public concert and in presentations at k-12 schools in santa cruz county and cabrillo college.
