As the premier child abuse prevention agency in San Antonio and Bexar County, The Children’s Shelter provides a full continuum of care for children in abusive and neglectful situations and the families affected. Once a child comes through our doors, it is our mission to provide for all of the needs of that child, from shelter, to treatment, to a secure and safe home environment.
Results: Since 1901, The Children's Shelter has provided safe homes for children. As a nationally accredited agency, The Children's Shelter implements evidence-based practices throughout every department in our organization. By providing the highest quality of care, we ensure positive outcomes for the children and parents we serve.
Last year we:
Served 422 children ages 0-13 in the Emergency Shelter
Served 65 children ages 5-12 in the Residential Treatment Center
Served 291 children ages 0-19 in Foster Care
Facilitated 44 adoptions
Served 430 fathers & 1,099 children in Compadre Y Compadre
Served 96 parents and 137 children in iParent SA
Served 100 parents and 94 children in iParent SA Teen HOPES

The Children's Shelter of San Antonio is a fantastic organization and I was so impressed with the facility, the staff, and the management of it. I can't think of a better organization to support. The facilities and program for the children are outstanding. The staff are very caring, loving, and supportive. This is the best Shelter and deserves everyone's support and charitable contributions.
As a former resident of San Antonio, we were aware of children who were homeless and without a safe, secure place to go. I learned of their mission and have heard of child survivors that sustained abuse and neglect which were offered a place to be safe and cared for. We also know of children that have found permanent homes with the assistance of the Children's Shelter. It is a great organization who needs to be recognized nationally for what they do.
