Mission: Education - to help people in today's society awaken to their inherent spirituality and psychological health. This is accomplished by teaching proper meditation and integrating ancient spiritual wisdom with modern rational thought.
Programs: We provided educational materials, instruction, guidance, and oversight for the following: classes: 52 students, nc and ca free lectures: ca - 2 lectures approx. 40 attendees, nc - 6 lectures approx. 180 attendees retreat attendees: approx. 45 visitors to the visitor center: approx. 20,000 in-person meditation instruction at mount soma: approx. 250 people visits to our websites averaged 4300 per month visits to michael mamas' blog averaged 2500 per month visits to meditation instruction page averaged 400 per month
crs oversaw and managed some of the administrative and decision-making processes to initiate the student union kitchen remodel and temple roof shingle repair, both crs learning center projects. It also oversaw phase 1 of fixing up rooms at the student union for temple/course- related attendees, another crs learning center project. On august 11, 2016 michael mamas gave a talk to amador valley high school district representatives proposing new meditation programs in the san francisco, california area. Participated in a "mindfulness day" at the university of north carolina asheville, where we sponsored a booth and held an introductory class on meditation. Crs continued to support high school meditation outreach sessions at amador valley high school in california. One day of two mount soma class weekends were offered free to the public. Weekends at mount soma, especially holiday weekends, provide an opportunity for cultural enrichment. There were also a variety of events carried out by sri somesvara tenple which support cultural integrity and harmony.
