Causes: Boys & Girls Clubs, Boys Clubs, Children & Youth
Mission: The boys & girls club of door county is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
Programs: Youth center providing after school programming, teen social opportunities, crisis intervention and outreach. In 2017, provided programming at two locations and partnered with 50 other community agencies to offer programs that were both fun and impactful. Offered 55 completely different enrichment activities to 523 active club members. The monday meal program served over 3,941 hot, nutritious meals and 16,883 delicious snacks. Summer programming provided academic enrichment, skill building activities and fun to 220 youth participants. This included math and reading instruction designed to prevent summer academic loss.
child and adult care food program (cacfp): afterschool programs that participate in cacfp give children and teenagers the nutrition they need, and draw them into constructive activities that are safe, fun, and filled with oppurtunities for learning. Cacfp programming at the boys and girls club of door county includes a daily snack for every child (average of 200 daily) and meals on monady, wednesday, and thursday nights.
comprehensive community services (ccs): starting with a small identified population, we provide emotional and behavioral support through daily individual contact and scheduled group sessions. Each member will meet with a ccs staff daily to assess the youth's mindset, address immediate issues, and to plan for a productive day. A ccs staff's frequent presence within the general programming will allow for crisis intervention and feedback. Additionally, small group sessions dealing with social skills, problem solving, and personal growth will be scheduled at least weekly. Ccs will also facilitate the collection and maintenance of information and data for use within our system and for necessary documentation needed by government oversight.
stem lab: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics: focus on project based hands on learning experiences. Piloting nasa after-school curriculum and partnering with local engineers and businesses.
