Mission: The big sky community organization connects people to recreational opportunities by acquiring, preserving and promoting sustainable places and programs for all.
Programs: Public parks - secure, develop and manage public land for recreational and community uses. Currently care for and operate 83 acres of public parks including, big sky community park, historic crail ranch park, kircher park and ousel falls park. These parks host youth and adult programming along with recreational facilities for residents and visitors to big sky. Programming includes; adult softball league, youth little league, soccer, youth summer camp, hiking, biking, running, cross-country skiing, skateboarding, frisbee golf, tennis, pickleball, historic docent tours, educational programs and community events. Facilities include pavillions, softball fields, playgrounds, tennis/pickleball courts, fields, skateboard park, frisbee golf course, basketball courts, climbing boulders, picnicking areas, fishing access and a historic homestead museum.
public trails - attain and hold public trail easements, construct new trails and maintain trails for big sky residents and its visitors. Provide education and outreach programs promoting sustainable trail use and other related topics on the trail system with the hike n' learn and trail ambassador programs. Currently care for and operate 19 miles of public trails for recreational uses and safe pedestrian and bicycle routes throughout the community.
camp big sky - organization and operation of the camp big sky and big sky broadway for more than 150 youth ages 5-14 years of age annually, promoting youth programs and athletics during the summer months. These programs include environmental education, swimming, golfing, tennis, soccer, history, hiking, theatre and community service and is the only full-time summer youth program that operates during working hours for parents.
$53,746- historic crail ranch provides free guided historical tours of the ranch and homestead through a volunteer docent program along with educational programs for the general public and school children all summer long. $397,967- special projects: planning, installation of a traffic signal, inclusive of 4 pedestrian crossings and signals on hwy 64 to enhance safe pathways throughout big sky for pedestrians and cyclists.
