I hit the ground running when that bomb dropped. It was fight or flight my first year and a half, I lost everything including my will to live. The Atrium Foundation was the first time I didn’t feel alone. I honestly couldn’t believe there were people that were going to help me with my financial struggles. My story and gratitude doesn’t end there. What the Atrium gave me, What Dorothy Paredes gave me is priceless. Dorothy restored my sense of purpose.

Being diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer was a terrible shock that came with many unexpected challenges. The Atrium Foundation was incredibly sensitive, caring, supportive and generous at a time when I was most vulnerable and feeling defeated. They provided the help I needed in a way that no insurance, friend or family member could.
I had the misfortune of being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer during a time in which I had a lapse in my insurance coverage, due to a technical error. Unfortunately, I was not made aware of this error until after already accumulating thousands of dollars worth of medical bills from the various scans, tests and appointments needed to begin treatment. Thank you so much to the Atrium Foundation for assisting me with some of these expenses and helping to relieve a huge amount of stress in my life!
My experience with The Atrium Foundation was great! I felt heard, understood, and treated with kindness and compassion. The Atrium Foundation listened to my story and was able to financially support my experience with being pregnant with cancer. They are an organization who used their personal experience as a platform to make a difference in our community. They saw a great need and have provided many people with the resources to focus on healing rather than the financial stress and toll cancer can have.
Being part of the founding team of this nonprofit has been one of most rewarding opportunities I could experience. We truly believe that no one battling cancer should have to fight to their bills, we are passionate about being a trusted source in the cancer care community by taking a patient-first approach and being a volunteer-based organization. We look forward to continuing our mission of protecting cancer patient, survivors, and caregivers livelihoods and helping as many people as we can thrive through their journey or survivorship!
