Mission: The Arc of Southeast Iowa is committed to being a leader in offering information, services and advocacy to individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and community; to promote informed choices and the realization of their goals relating to where and how they live, learn, work and play.
Target demographics: individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and community
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 500 individuals with disabilities and their families/caregivers
Geographic areas served: Johnson, Washington, and other southeastern Iowa counties
Programs: Direct support services such as respite care, supported community living, consumer attendant care services, and supported employment services. In general The Arc of Southeast Iowa is an autonomous, self-governing, not for profit agency. The Arc of Southeast Iowa is a dues-paying member of The Arc of Iowa and The Arc of United States Associations that advocate and lobby for the rights of people with disabilities on the state and national level. The Arc of Southeast Iowa is also a dues-paying member of the Iowa Association of Community Providers, which is committed to promoting healthy and secure communities for children and adults with disabilities. Since 1957 The Arc has focused on inclusion for persons with developmental disabilities in their home communities throughout their lifespan. The Arc is committed to being a leader in offering information, services, and advocacy to individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and community; to promote informed choices and the realization of their goals relating to where and how they live, learn, work, and play. In addition to the direct support services mentioned previously, The Arc of Southeast Iowa also “Sibship” a sibling support group, provides weekend group programming for school-aged children, holds an afterschool program, provides summer day camps, and has started an integrated daycare program.
