Causes: International, International Cultural Exchange, International Exchange
Mission: Global ties abq contributes to world peace by creating global connections among the people of new mexico and emerging leaders from around the world. We do this through international exchange programs, local educational programs, and international community-building activities.
Programs: The united states department of state sponsors and funds the organization through the international visitors leadership program (ivlp) whose mission is to strengthen u. S. Engagement with countries around the world and cultivate lasting relationships by connecting current and emerging foreign leaders with their american counterparts through short-term visits to the united states. During the fiscal year ending september 30, 2017, 279 international visitors in 32 different groups were hosted by the albuquerque council for international visitors dba global ties abq. Additionally, this fiscal year, global ties abq was proud to launch its first community-focused program, the global innovator program. This program is designed to connect local entrepreneurs with international trade experts and tools through various sessions. In fiscal year 2017, we conducted four global innovator sessions.
diplomacy begins here summitglobal ties abq was also proud to host a department of state sponsored diplomacy begins here summit, where 180 local and out of state individuals attended. The summit highlighted citizen diplomacy and entrepreneurship and economic development along the camino real and beyond.
