Morale fund: after careful consideration, the 506th association has decided to reinstate the currahee packages project and to rename it so that it more accurately reflects what this fund will attempt to provide in the way of support for the active duty soldiers of the 506th infantry regiment. Kia memorial fund: more than 1,400 currahees have made the supreme sacrifice for our country. You may have known some of them. But what you may not know is that there was no single memorial to all the soldiers of our regiment who have been killed in action. This tribute to our fallen is being paid for by people like you. The army has provided the land; however, soldiers, and veterans, along with currahee friends and family, have come together to make this dream a reality. The granite stones were put in place, and the formal dedication was held on november 12, 2009. After two more years of fund raising, we had the funds required to pay for the engraving of the wwii and vietnam kia names (and the re-engraving of the iraq and afghanistan kia names) on their designated stone tablets. With all of the engraving complete, a rededication ceremony was held on november 11, 2011. Money collected then now on is being used for landscaping and perpetual care of the memorial.
