Programs: Terpsicorps brought to asheville, together we soar. Terpsicorps sees the need to build bridges within our increasingly divided society. The company delights asheville with vivid cutting-edge dance and is known for works that embrace the struggle, depth and beauty of the human experience. Choreographer and artistic director, heather maloy created this as a testament to the power of women and focused on what we think of as feminine attributes. Love, compassion, inclusivity, determination; these qualities were brought to life through the music and artistic abilities of the performers. Voices from local divas of lyric and stephaniesid accompanied technically astounding cast of dancers from across the us. The academy at terpsicorps in it's second year continues to provide world class dance training & education, consistent with the stylistic requirements for terpsicoprs theatre of dance company. Dancers are provided with a rich knowledge of classical technique and the ability to adapt to all styles and techniques of dance. The academy at terpsicorps serves approximately 100 - 150 students and encompass a pre-professional division of dancers ages 8-18, and a dance education division of dancers 3 and up. Classes include classical ballet, pointe, partnering, men's class, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, yoga and pilates. Pre-professional students have the opportunity to train with the terpsicorps theatre of dance company during the summer months. The academy provides monthly master classes with premier choreographers to aid in building the dancer's repertoire, performance experience, and training. Terpsicorps continued their community outreach activities. Through an incredible effort, the school created a unique dance scholarship program for children from low-income families. Excited students received dance clothes, shoes and classes at the new facility.
