Causes: Human Services, Physical Fitness & Community Recreational Facilities, Sports, Young Mens or Womens Associations
Mission: Within the available resources of the telford ymca, the ymca will provide services for any youth or adult who desires to participate, regardless of their ability to pay the prescribed membership, class or program fees.
Programs: Health and wellness program. We reach out to all regardless of their ability to pay. Presently we are providing financial assistance and discounts to over 2,250 families or individuals in order that they can participate in the ymca fitness programs. Many of these were single parent families and all qualified for financial assistance. Over a period of a year over 600 individuals received special arrangements or financial assistance. Beyond this we provide many therapeutic programs including water exercise, pain management, work with blind and wheelchair individuals, healthy back classes, etc. Day care program. The ymca day care with its low(subsidized) rates and quality programs provides a valuable resource for the community. Approximately 75% of our children come from families that have incomes near or below the federal government poverty level. Some of these children are here under a protective care arrangement with the department of human resources.
