Mission: To empower teens to achieve excellence in college, career, and community.
Results: TeenWorks provides at-risk teens from socioeconomically challenged environments with the opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty and become self-sufficient adults through employment and career readiness training. The TeenWorks experience consists of three distinct, yet interlocked, progressive programs: TeenWorks Summer Program, TeenWorks Pro Program, and TeenWorks Alumni Services. TeenWorks boasts a strong track record of decades of youth employment experience and is the only program of its kind in the state of Indiana, and perhaps nationally, that provides a unique combination of youth employment, professional skills development, career coaching, industry credentialing, and postsecondary assistance.
Target demographics: at-risk teens
Geographic areas served: Indianapolis area and Muncie in Indiana
Programs: Summer Program - provides teens in Marion County and Muncie with paid employment, volunteer service, and training focusing on Indiana's Employability Skills Benchmarks, interviewing skills, resume building, financial literacy, college exposure, and career exploration.
Pro Program - a year-round youth employment program for students who have completed the Summer Program. Provides paid work-learn opportunities, more advanced professional development skills training, college/trade school tours, help with individual career plans, professional networking, career pathway exposure, and opportunities for credentialing.
Alumni Services - assistance with college/trade school/other credentialing program applications, assistance with financial aid information, course selection, access to academic tutoring, opportunities for scholarships, and barrier busting support.
