I first came in contact with this organization in early 2008 as I was randomly surfing the internet. Eventually, I decided to join. I became involved with posting responses to people who posted regarding depression, suicide, and self harm. I became disgusted with the responses from some of the "staff members" of TeenHelp, and confronted one of them regarding a response they gave to a 15-year-old girl who was thinking of killing herself. I messaged this staff member, and this person became extremely defensive, and the conversation ended with this individual telling me to "go !&%^$! yourself." I reported the original post that bothered me, and messaged one of the administrators of the site letting them know about the inappropriate behavior I experienced. The administration and staff team did absolutely nothing, and to my knowledge, the staff member who caused the first problem is still on the staff team. Over time, I continued to try helping people on TeenHelp, but things just got worse. I continued to see misbehavior from staff members, staff members failing to act on certain other members who were rude, inappropriate, etc. Situations got worse, and the staff of TeenHelp went with them, also getting worse. In early 2009, I decided for certain that TeenHelp was going no where good, so I searched the net for an alternative that had a similar goal. When I found what I was looking for, I went back to TeenHelp, and as I replied there, I mentioned to the members (privately) my low opinions of TeenHelp, and referred them to this other site that I thought was doing a much better job. Many of the people thanked me for referring them. I even gave them pros/cons for TeenHelp and this other place. Eventually, TeenHelp banned me for "spamming." Didn't matter to them how many people I helped, how many people liked my advice, or anything. They discovered that I was privately contacting members giving advice through means alternative to their public forums, which, in my professional opinion, hurt more than they help. TeenHelp is an immature organization run primarily by teenagers. The philosophy of being run by teenagers is good, but the problem at TeenHelp is they have favorites, they are prejudice, biased, and oftentimes all-too-happy to be able to ban who they choose, dislike who they choose, and there's nothing anyone else can do about it. TeenHelp is filled with immature power hunger, and it disgusts me to this day.
