**5-Star Review for Tecate Horse Rescue**

I can’t recommend Tecate Horse Rescue highly enough! As someone who typically stays away from rescues due to concerns about distressing visuals, my visit here completely changed my perspective. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by the gracious owners, DJ and Mike, whose warmth and passion for their mission created an inviting atmosphere.

The horses at the rescue are truly remarkable. Each one, despite their scars, looked healthy and vibrant, with bright, clear eyes that conveyed their contentment. It’s clear that they receive exceptional care and love, along with specialized training from their in-house trainer, preparing them for a hopeful new chapter in life.

I felt so inspired during my visit that I’m eager to volunteer and support their mission. The dedication that DJ, Mike, and their team of volunteers pour into the care and rehabilitation of these magnificent creatures is truly admirable. Tecate Horse Rescue is a special haven that showcases the power of second chances. I hope they continue to receive the community support they need to keep doing their incredible work!

A friend of mine who fostered a horse from Tecate Horse Rescue introduced me to this rescue. I love horses, but unable to keep one of my own, but volunteering at this rescue gave me so much joy. At the moment, I am not even doing what feels like much to me. I spend time with the horses, getting them used to my presence, and having somebody just be gentle, nice and patient with them. I have been to other rescues, but this one really takes care of the horses (and donkeys too!). They are happy, well fed, and have lots of room to interact with each other. The kindness of the people who work there just shines off of them. I have even watched them gentling the horses, and the operative word there is gentling. They are patient and build up the horses trust. I look forward to going back there and getting even more involved (hopefully grooming, which I love to do, and I noticed that some of their horses even have braided manes, so they get individual attention) :-). The work they do to rescue the horses and donkeys must be so hard-my heart goes out to them. And although I wish I could do even more, they (people and horses) appreciate what I can give.

Hello, I began riding, taking lessons at age 3.
I've had a Buckskin Dun Pony.
Two Palomino Mares.
I've showed many horses mine as well as others all over California. I've won many many High Points, Champion & Reserve Champion awards.
I've had over 25 students over the years. Teaching them all proper riding skills, proper horse care & safety with horses.
I love horses, I love riding, helping, & defending them.
I taught at Dehesa Elementary School and taught riding lessons at Sycuan Stables for 12 years.
Now I live in Campo.
I'd love to offer my riding skills & knowledge to your new riders, first time horse owners get them riding a horse safely and experience all joys that entails.
I have some free time. Maybe I could volunteer there once a week
Help you get people riding.
Help share my knowledge.
I also have some tack I'd love to donate.
Please contact me if interested.
Sincerely,
Wendy Humphrey

This organization rescues horses from danger, abuse and death.
They provide shelter, food and medical care. Where possible they find homes for them.
They also serve the community by letting volunteers come and interact with the horses.
The owner witnessed the abuse and decided to provide some help for these beautiful defenseless animals.

I love their rescue. They work so hard to get those poor horses and donkeys out of the slaughter line. They are devoted and really try relentlessly to help the animals. I’m very proud of what they do and think people should use their rescue as example on the dedication and love in saving these poor animals.

We have assisted this rescue in saving many equines from slaughter.

They are very conscientious and caring, always acting with the animal's best interest in mind. They will go above and beyond providing anything that the animal might need!

Their facility is clean, organized, and growing! Owners as well as staff is motivated and have a great work ethic. They are very easy going and always a pleasure to work with.

We are looking forward to seeing this rescue thrive!

Amazing rescue in Southern California. Tecate horse rescue has saved many horses (babies also) and donkeys w/ babies from the Kill pens which could have been a direct ship to the slaughter houses in Mexico and a horrific death. And most recently a horse I fell in Love with, that found herself in a Texas kill pen, 7829. A young beautiful gray Arabian mare. See picture. Please support and help save the ones in the most dangerous place to be in.
